| 1 | I just ordered software. How can I get it RIGHT NOW? You are able to get started immediately with the purchase of a node-locked full license. Install the demo version of the software. Send to ASH WARE the license file as well as your invoice and purchase order number. We will hook you up right away! Installation of network (floating) licenses can also begin right away. The Network License Server must be installed first on the computer to be used as the license server. As with a node-locked installation, the license file generated upon installation must be sent to ASH WARE. We will send back a license data file that will allow the network license server to begin serving out licenses. After a few final instalaltion steps, clients can begin installing ASH WARE tools and begin checking out licenses. Customers who order USB License Dongles must wait for receipt of the dongle to install fully functional software. |
| 2 | Why does ASH WARE no longer ship a CD-ROM? ASH WARE deploys all software directly from the Web. |
| 3 | Why did ASH WARE decide to only support Web software deployment? The answer to this question is rather complicated. A number of factors contributed to this decision. First and foremost is that our previous software delivery schemes were complicated, time consuming, slow, and of poor quality. We had too many separate utilities that we had gradually created over the years that performed the following tasks:
With MtDt we completely redesigned our software delivery tools. We felt that a single Web-centric software deployment scheme offered the best balance of capabilities and efficiency. This offers the following advantages:
|
| 4 | Are there problems with the Web software delivery scheme? Yes, but none are critical. With our new MtDt software delivery scheme we have experienced a few issues. While there are limitations to what we can do we are committed to addressing all of our customer's concerns. We see the following as key issues.
Note that none of these problems prevent the proper installation of ASH WARE software on your computer. Rather, these are nuisance problems that are procedural in nature. We plan on fixing all problems in the very near future and respectfully request your patience while we do so. |
| 5 | When I send you my license file, what information is contained in this file? The following things are contained in this file:
Here at ASH WARE when we receive your license file we add your email address to this file. We do this so that we so that we could (theoretically) notify you when your license is about to expire, or when important new releases come out. |
| 6 | If I email you my license file will I start receiving junk mail? No. Here at ASH WARE we would like to have a desert island reserved for spammers. What we would do to these evil people is contrary to our Judeo-Christian upbringings so we will not expand on our thoughts here... Yes, you may receive new release emails from ASH WARE, but when you email us we will never divulge this information outside of ASH WARE. Never, never, never. |
| 7 | How do I move my software from one computer to another? For node-locked licenses, basically it is the same procedure as the initial installation. Please do the following.
For holders of USB License Dongles, the dongle need only be moved from one computer to another. The first time on a new PC the installation must be downloaded from ASH WARE and the licensed tool installed. With network licenses, as many client installations as desired may be done, but only the licensed number of users may run simultaneously. |
